Conflicting Hearts

February 17, 2014

“what’s that racket?” you asked,

As I flung open the doors

To the sunroom.

All around me countless birds sang!

Feeling the warmth of an almost spring day,

I heard “too cold!”

Basking in the radiance

Of the morning sun streaming

From a cloudless sky,

I heard you closing the blinds

“too much glare!”

My smile faded a bit

As I knew we were together,

Yet in vastly different placed.

Where Jesus Lives

December 31, 2013

Jesus saves pic

I read somewhere today that we should use our brains as our hearts know nothing. I am SOOO thankful that I know better. “They” can mess with your head and quote chapter and verse to prove their point. The Bible is often the weapon of choice. It is so often quoted out of context. But Jesus lives in my heart. When it is a happy heart He is there. When it is a broken heart He is there. When there are no answers, when there are only clouds, He holds the answers and He is the Son shining. The heart KNOWS because He lives there.

Blessings In A Tattered Cardboard Box

October 22, 2013

Blessings do not always come on silver trays,

wrapped in ribbons and festive bows.

Sometimes they come in dusty boxes

lugged by sweaty arms.

Occasionally,

a spider or two may tag along.

When you face life with an open heart,

you discover miracles happen

everyday.

You may even wonder what you’ve missed!

The Heart – A Max Lucado Quote

October 2, 2013

“When God hears your heart, does He not hear the still-beating heart of His Son?  The Christian is a person in whom Christ is happening.”

You Make Me Feel . . .

May 13, 2013

It’s Monday.  Life is full of Mondays.  I notice the blue shirt you’re wearing and note that it is a great shade of blue.  You haven’t said a word to me yet and I cannot read your heart from your facial expression.  As you approach me, I smile and wonder what’s up.

Tomorrow, next week, next year, twenty years from now . . .  I will not remember the shirt or the fact that it was Monday.  I will not even remember exactly what you say to me.  What will I remember?

I will remember how you made me feel.  That is what will make a lasting impression on me.  It will linger . . . stay with me.  I won’t dwell on it, but the truth is, it really will lurk in a space inside me for a long time.  It might change my day or my life.

Something to consider before we speak to one another.  Words have power to take life or to give it.  You decide . . .

Eyes of the Heart Quote!

February 25, 2013

Wow, this is so true.  We have all read this sort of message in the Bible, sang of it in praise songs, etc., but I wonder as I think of some of the decisions and false judgments I have made whether “hearing it” requires a bit more thought.

It is only with the heart that one can see rightly. What is essential is invisible to the eye.

Good Morning, Lord!

February 15, 2013

 sunrise-md

I awakened early,

Snuggled deep into my soft pillow

And wrapped warmly in my quilt

I pretended it was still time for sleep.

As I lay cozy in my bed

You whispered lovingly to me

And I sighed, smiled, and whispered back.

Gazing lovingly,

I felt your arms holding me close

As you filled my heart with you

And I realized it was there

That I would forever stay,

Waking, sleeping,

It matters not

As long as you’re with me.

Suddenly,

The wake-up melody sounded

High in the sky

On distant branches of the tall tree

Outside my window

And I realize the sun was opening

Its sleepy eyes,

And so did I.

Listening to the sweet songbirds

I added my praise to theirs

As together we faced the day.

Ashes. An Acrostic Poem For Lent

February 13, 2013

An ashen heap,

So full of memories burned and gone

However, not truly forgotten, but then:

Enter upon the scene Jesus Christ

Sin forgiven as ashes swept away and treasure redefined!

Quote of the Day – His Love

February 11, 2013

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 1 Corinthians 13:4-5
