It’s Monday. Life is full of Mondays. I notice the blue shirt you’re wearing and note that it is a great shade of blue. You haven’t said a word to me yet and I cannot read your heart from your facial expression. As you approach me, I smile and wonder what’s up.
Tomorrow, next week, next year, twenty years from now . . . I will not remember the shirt or the fact that it was Monday. I will not even remember exactly what you say to me. What will I remember?
I will remember how you made me feel. That is what will make a lasting impression on me. It will linger . . . stay with me. I won’t dwell on it, but the truth is, it really will lurk in a space inside me for a long time. It might change my day or my life.
Something to consider before we speak to one another. Words have power to take life or to give it. You decide . . .

Wow, this is so true. We have all read this sort of message in the Bible, sang of it in praise songs, etc., but I wonder as I think of some of the decisions and false judgments I have made whether “hearing it” requires a bit more thought.
It is only with the heart that one can see rightly. What is essential is invisible to the eye.

I awakened early,
Snuggled deep into my soft pillow
And wrapped warmly in my quilt
I pretended it was still time for sleep.
As I lay cozy in my bed
You whispered lovingly to me
And I sighed, smiled, and whispered back.
I felt your arms holding me close
As you filled my heart with you
And I realized it was there
That I would forever stay,
It matters not
As long as you’re with me.
The wake-up melody sounded
High in the sky
On distant branches of the tall tree
Outside my window
And I realize the sun was opening
Its sleepy eyes,
And so did I.
Listening to the sweet songbirds
I added my praise to theirs
As together we faced the day.

An ashen heap,
So full of memories burned and gone
However, not truly forgotten, but then:
Enter upon the scene Jesus Christ
Sin forgiven as ashes swept away and treasure redefined!

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 1 Corinthians 13:4-5

A Patriots fan cheering for the 49ers for fun, but not entirely pationately STILL wants them to win. I, said fan, am enjoying my solitary party and treats as much as the commercials and game itself. While it is only halftime just now as I consider these things, one thing comes to mind. I already know what special memory will remain with me when this game is done. Surely that can only be the blessing of hearing children from Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT singing as the game was about to begin . . . wow.

Sometimes my heart seems such a fickle thing,
At once so very full of you and yet,
As well, hungering for more.
Unshed tears burn within me
And I do not understand the reason why.
Just when it seems this mystery
Will be my undoing
You are there in a new and deeper way
Through a kiss,
A kind word,
An encouraging nod,
A hand to hold mine,
And the unanswered longing
Fades away unnoticed.
