Life Is Eternal – Brokenness Is NOT

Think about it for a moment.  Just a moment, now.  You are broken.  I am broken.  We have broken bodies, broken hearts.  Our identity is NOT our brokenness, however.  That is not and I do mean NOT our eternal “death sentence.”

We are adored by the King of KIngs.  ADORED.  Think on that!  Feel it.  Know it.  Not sure about you but just the other day someone used the word “adore” in relation to me and I was just a bit startled.  I know I am loved.  Adored is a word that takes love a step or two further though.  I don’t often hear that word spoken to me . . .  except in my heart and soul when I am with the Lord and focused on Him.  It is then that I know with every fiber of my being that there is nothing that can take it from me, and never even into life everlasting!  That’s huge!  It’s hard for our human minds to take hold of, isn’t it?

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Romans 12:12

I was a bit too aware of my own human frailty yesterday and when I couldn’t push it aside by myself, I reached out to a Christian friend for prayer support.  He’s a busy man.  He didn’t respond to my text message.  It’s that way with text messages, though.  We feel our phone vibrate, we glance, we toss it into our pockets and go on with our responsibilities.

He did pray though.  For, suddenly, I felt his prayer.  I felt my joy and my hope rise within me.  My afflictions didn’t go away but ceased to be my focus.  As this amazing love of my Lord washed over me, I looked up suddenly and noticed my silenced cell phone on the desk was lit up.  Glancing at it, I saw that he had responded and in that instant when I felt my Lord’s presence and was once again aware of being wrapped in His love?  That was just when my friend had been praying for me.

We are the body of Christ.  We are not Him, but we serve Him and He is in us.  We do not have to go it alone and are not meant to.  We are to turn to Him and to one another as collective members of His body in this world.

Do not be defined by your brokenness.  It is temporary.  It is not important. Be defined by the life that is within you!  Eternal life!  It was given to you at baptism and won for you on a cross all those many, many years ago.

You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.  1 John 4:4

Martha, there’s a song I’d love to give you the link to here, if you’d permit. My online church, Gateway (in Southlake, TX) just showcased their kids’ ministry’s debut CD, and the song they did for us is so great–very upbeat, of course, and contains the line I love best: “Jesus living BIG Inside of me!” It’s on YouTube, so you could get it there–just go to Gateway Music, 2012, and I think the song title is “Look UP”, CD is “Next” (I hope I’m giving you correct info!) Anyway, if you want the link here–I’ll try to get it for you, okay? God bless you abundantly today, and always. love, sis Caddy

    • Oh, thanks, sis. You have such a heart for Jesus, dear friend. You have my personal permission to include a link in your comments any time you feel led to do so. Hey, fyi. If anyone ever posts something that you do not feel blesses you or your readers and feel it necessary to do so, you can edit comments we make on your blog from your dashboard screen. Not sure you knew that. Love and hugs, sis.

Okay, I left the YouTube song on a different post (I’m so skittish about tech things, you know!)–and I did know about editing comments. I really try not to, as I want people to feel free to speak–but there were a couple that I did. Hope you like the song–it will have you dancing, I’m sure! love, Caddy

    • HI. Thanks, I love it! I don’t edit them either and for the same reason. I mean it when I say you are free to post anything though. Great link!!! Hugs and love to you (as I return to my dancing) Martha

      • I am usually good at techie stuff, but this one fails me. My links just show as links. Must be a miracle. Yup. I believe.

Now that I’m thinking about it, Martha–there must be a fairly easy trick, because over at Paulette’s blog–for Wednesday Worship–people bring music vids all the time, and they aren’t just links. Do you have time to query her–otherwise I’ll put it on my to-do list.

Not that I mind God doing a miracle which I got to be part of, mind you–ha ha!

      • I just looked it up in the support part of the site and since I do not pay for my blog, I am not allowed to post video content, so I shall have to continue with links. Only people who have upgraded for paid space on wordpress can do vid content. I think it used to be free because I accidentally did it once and I have only ever had “free” service. Oh, well.

Okay, so that means Paulette pays for the service–I should check into the upgraded services, though I suspect I’ll remain a “freebee”. Thanks for researching it for us, Sis!!

    • There are separate items you can pay for or you can bundle services. The Vid option was priced at 60.00 a year for just that, but for 99.00 a year you got several popular choices. If you are just running out of space because you’ve had your blog a long ti me and have a lot of stuff on it, there’s also a way to just buy more space. For folks without techie skills there is also a way to pay them to handle things for you for a price. Good offers and prices seem fair, but I say that knowing I can’t take it on just now. Things will change, though and nwo knows? The Lord is in control and He has a plan!
