Prayer Versus Cookies

So many books have been written on how to pray, effective prayers, language to use . . . I dare say these writings have their place and yet two touching moments in my life place an entirely different perspective on the relationship we have in prayer.

I recall a time a small one in my life saw me and all else was forgotten as she ran to me in such joy to be swallowed up in my arms.

In another more recent example, in my Mom’s last days, upon my approaching her bed in ICU one day, the moment she was aware of my presence, she sat up and threw herself in my arms and cried like her heart was breaking.

In both cases no words were spoken yet the love and comfort and strength. . . more powerfully shared and felt than words could ever express. If this is true in our human relationships, surely it is more powerfully true than ever in our relationship with the Lord?

Prayer is not baking cookies. It is a relationship! Run into His arms! Words are not necessary!

  2. Amen! Words are not neccesary. 🙂

    (Rom 8:26 [KJV])
Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

    Shalom! Beth
