I was just reading some things on my social media places . . . one about an old lady drawing fish with crayons and cutting them with kid scissors to decorate a church school room. Jesus looks like that. I saw a man from church who brought his autistic grandson with him. The boy kept loudly greeting people, whether it was time to speak or quiet time. Jesus looks like that. I saw a friend with health challenges mowing and weeding my lawn because he was aware of MY challenges. Jesus looks like that.
In light of the constant news reports of shootings and hate in the world and near each one of us and those we love, it would be easy to lock the door, latch the gate, hide ourselves . . . we try to fool ourselves into thinking the bad things happen to “other people” but Jesus looks like them too! Yet still we close the door.
Reach out a hand
O
Open the door
Unlatch the gate
Offer a chair
WHY TAKE THE CHANCE?
45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ Matthew 25:45 Jesus is there. Let Him in!
A beautiful and inspirational post. 🙂

I was inspired by the anniversary today of the MOTHER EMMANUEL shooting here a year ago today, plus the tragedy in Orlando!

Wow! Martha you nailed that one on the head. It really is what we choose to look at isn’t it?

INDEED! In SC while we share the pain of Orlando we also relive the tragedy a year ago of the hate crime/shooting at Mother Emmanuel . . . our fear can change us for the good if we invite Him in!

What an excellent post, Martha! You are right. Jesus would never build a wall, lock a gate, and close others out. He holds out his hands and says, “Come to me!” As his representatives on earth we are to do the same. Thanks so much for the reminder. 🙂

Absolutely beautiful and profound. We do tend to tighten the circle around us when bad things happen to others. We should, rather, reach out and share our Lord instead of cowering in fear. Thanks for your beautiful piece.
