We fix one symptom, pat ourselves on the back, put our feet up, and nap . . . never facing up to the REAL problem.  Why, then, do we complain that “nothing ever changes” and “nobody cares!”

All too often I find this word to be avoided, to be considered negative, to be considered “here comes trouble!”  My response to this truth was “here comes another positive word gone NEGATIVE, what a pity!”

I looked acceptance up in the dictionary and found that a primary defining word was “favor.”  WOW!

The following blessing has been bestowed upon me many times, and I quote it from the BOOK OF COMMON PRAYER:

“The Lord bless you and keep you.

The Lord’s face shine on you with grace and mercy.

The Lord look upon you with favor

and give you peace. AMEN

My friends, acceptance is a REALLY BIG DEAL and I am sorry to say we as a culture are not very good at it.  We need to do better!

AT ONCE, when I committed my life to the Lord, these weak human eyes and this flawed human heart saw His Light, love, and beauty EVERYWHERE.  I was looking with the same tired eyes at the same spaces and places, but His heart in mine showed me what I had been missing!  Raking the brush in my yard, I gazed at the pile of twigs and such, and saw something more.  Within minutes, my hands assembled this cross entirely from a pile of brush.  Oh, how much more He can do when we turn in faith and love to Him!

This morning I used a quote that talked of magic, and I was quickly reminded that Scripture warns us about the guiles of the dark arts. But if one consults a dictionary, he/she will find the definition which was my intent in using the word: magic (n.) a mysterious quality of enchantment; (adj.) mysteriously enchanting. For you see, Creation and the mystery of its Maker, so often enchant me with a reverent sense of awe and wonder especially when as if by magic Spring brings amazing arrays of beauty and splendor out of what once appeared to be stark nothingness. Here are some samples of the wondrous “magic” I found in my yard on this first day of spring.

The year’s at the spring,
And day’s at the morn;
Morning’s at seven;
The hill-side’s dew-pearled;
The lark’s on the wing;
The snail’s on the thorn;
God’s in his Heaven—

Joy was a snowflake

Caught in my hand.

I held it too close

And it melted.

Joy was a daisy

I picked in the morn.

Tucked in my pocket,

Its petals were lost.

Joy was a smile

You placed in my heart.

I shared it with a friend.

Its warmth glows on!
