When the garden is filled with weeds
Yet one stubborn flower
Finds the strength to grow,
Am I to frown
Because it is the only one?
Is it not a very welcomed blessing?
Surely its beauty
Nourishes my hungry soul
Giving me the strength
To tackle the overgrowth
Of opposition
Not unlike the single
Blooming rose
Basking in the midst
Of thorns;
Hope
Of a coming new season!

Wonderful, beautiful post, Martha. It reminds me of a post from 2015 on The Ruminant Scribe entitled The Bobcat and the Tulips, where I talked of re-landscaping our front yard only to have 2 tulips, from the old garden bed, come up the following year. God’s creation can grow and inspire even in the hardest of places and times. Blessings to you today.

Thanks, Linda! Your memory reminds me of my own! The year I bought my first home and knowing nothing of gardening, a lone tulip appeared in season and came all 15 years I lived there! Other like surprises came now and then! Love it! I still have no green thumb!
