THE VIOLIN

July 31, 2018

It began . . .

An ordinary day.

Then

I heard the sounds of peace and passion.

A duet that at once caught my breath

while also wrapping me in streams of gold.

My heart . ..my soul

Were fed as never before.

Should I dance or cry or laugh

Or indulge

In a banquet

Of all three

and more.

Music so sweet and gentle

Then suddenly it grew in magnitude

And repainted the landscape.

A love

Indescribable

Wrapped in a bow.

Gift of a New Day

July 31, 2018
sunny day

It’s been raining long and hard

And gray skies were all I could see.

But today is different,

Or perhaps I am,

For I see a bright spot

Glowing through the

Clouds of morning.

I shall dance!

Dancing with the raindrops

And celebrating the sun

Am I

For today is

A new day

And the Lord has blessed it!

LISTEN TO YOUR HEART

July 30, 2018

I awakened

just before the sun.

My thoughts wandered,

as they so often do,

to the anticipated drama of my day,

then . . . ‘I heard the whispered sounds of your restful slumber

and felt the warmth of your love against me.

Just as quickly as they came

my worries slipped away.

All I could see,

all I could hear,

all I could feel

was my love for you

and how very blessed I am to know

you are mine!

Fear and Worry

Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you

I Peter 5:7

In my last blog, I discussed my fear of being alone and how this fear shaped my decisions throughout life. In researching this topic, I found some rather disturbing information pertaining to fear, worry and anxiety. In an article by de Becker, he writes that fear is an involuntary feeling that alerts us to danger, help us to make wise decisions, and should be a relatively short duration. On the other hand, DeBecker describes worry and anxiety are voluntary emotions that are actually “unwarranted fear that have assumed a power over us” like no other. Worry can be fear we manufacture within ourselves. Amy Simpson stated, “ whether or not we are conscious of it, worry is an action.”

LOVE BEYOND MEASURE

Matthew 10:29-31

“Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. “But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. “So do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows.
