It always seems so difficult
to have lost the ones you love
even though we know that they
are pain free up above.
But oh the happy memories
that come back with a start!
For I know that they are nearest
When I look inside my heart.

Thanks! I was challenged to write something including the word “nearest” but this time of year hurts so much. I knew this had to be written, though, and that the words are true.
