On Appreciation

July 9, 2014

I had one of those nights last night . . . fitful sleep, distracted by “thoughts” and unpleasant dreams.  So, when the clock slowly reached 5am, I got up, set the coffee on to brew, and sat down to check emails and read daily devotionals.  One message quickly caught me and distracted me from my aches and pains.  It was “Pray! It makes a difference” and having read it before coffee, I do not recall who said so, but I did as I was told and it DID change my focus.  Our Lord is amazing!  As I reflected on this, I randomly scanned emails and a comment on this post told me that I was blessed with an award NO STRINGS ATTACHED!

Thank you, Eric from The Hunt FOR Truth for this honor!  If

you have not discovered his blog yet, do pop over and check it out.  You will be blessed!

Awards, Awards, and MORE Awards!

April 29, 2013

Thank you so much to http://writingforfoodinindy.wordpress.com/  as well as http://creativetidalwave.wordpress.com/2013/04/28/love-letters/ and to http://iamforchange.wordpress.com/ for the MANY very recent blog awards!

I have fallen behind on preparing the many acceptance requirements for a variety of reason (busy busy busy) so please accept my thanks and blessings and know that I will catch up as soon as I can!

My Shine On Award, Beautiful Mama Blog Award, & Super Sweet Blogging Awards & Nominees!

April 5, 2013

Blessings and Greetings to my delightful readers, followers, and friends:

Though a challenge or two (health and otherwise) have slowed me down a bit recently, the Lord continues to bless me and this post is proof.  One of His friends, Cheryl, cshowers aka “Burning Fire Shut Up In My Bones” has honored me with not one but three blog awards which truly bless me.  Before life gets in the way, I will follow her lead and combine my acceptances in one post!  Thanks so much Cheryl.  I am so pleased and blessed.  Been to her blog?  You will want to return.  You will be blessed indeed.  Not met her yet?  Oh, you are in for a treat! Click the link at the beginning of this paragraph to learn more about her work and these awards!

What follows is my acceptance for the Shine On Award the Beautiful Mama Blog Award  and the Super Sweet Blogging Award  (Not a mama? There are different ways to be a mama so please do not feel unworthy if you are on my list and hadn’t thought of yourself as a mama.)

  • Link back to the blogger who nominated you
  • Put the Award on your blog.
  • Share 7 little secrets about yourself.
  • Nominate 5 – 10 other bloggers who make others happy too.

Seven Little Secrets About Me:

  • My nickname, as a child, was Muffin.  It has been hard to live down, so let’s keep it between us, okay?
  • I love reading children’s books with or without a child nearby!
  • I love love LOVE hats, but look terrible in them!
  • I sometimes SNORE.
  • I LIKE IT WHEN A MAN HOLDS THE DOOR FOR ME OR GIVES ME HIS SEAT.  At my age I’m not supposed to like it.  Lol
  • I love second-hand bookstores!
  • I brake for hardware stores and thrift shops!

  • Click the award image, save it and use it in your acceptance post.
  • List 3 things you love about motherhood.
  • Nominate other deserving mamas; you may choose as many as you like. (And let them know of the nomination)

 My Three Things:

  1. Obviously, I love my children, but the truth is, “my” children are not really my own.  I have not yet been blessed with any, but am Godmother, daughter, role reversal caregiver, aunt, and “aunt” to many and love them as though they were my own.  My favorite holiday memory has always been having my sweet “kids” help with baking.  Now college grad(s) but  . . .
  2. Is there anything more blessed than seeing a child grow and “become” all that he or she is meant to be?
  3. Oh, the things I’ve learned from my kids!  We fool ourselves into thinking we teach them!

  • Answer the question listed below
  • Nominate other blog friends (if you want)
  • Post the award logo somewhere on your blog.
  • Send a link to the nominees so they are aware you are giving them the award and/or tag game.

Here is your question, nominees, to get your awards:

Name the one thing you are grateful for today (excluding this tag game/blog award.)

I am so grateful that God chose me to be His beloved daughter:

“You didn’t choose Me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using My name.”

~ John 15:16

He delights in us!  Isn’t that the most amazing, exciting, completely awesome thing?  I could cry, I could giggle, I could jump up and down and clap my hands . . . all at once.  Hard to type that way, so will do that later.

And now, here are the five people who I would like to nominate for all of the awards above!

January 19, 2013

Well, dear friends, as I said in my last post I am so sorry to have fallen behind on things and I humbly thank Deirdre Rouse Whitfield, priest, sister in Christ, and inspiration to me personally for blessing me with this award nomination.  If you have read her blog, you know why I said that about her and if you haven’t met her and appreciated her work yet, I encourage you to do so.  You will be blessed.

The Rules:

  1. Display the award logo on your blog.
  2. Link back to the person who nominated you.
  3. Answer the Questions
  4. Pass the award onto to any other bloggers you want — and link to one of their specific posts so that they get notified by ping back

My Answers to the Questions

  • If you could change something what would you change?

Unity among churches in the Christian faith

  • If you could relive one day, when would it be?

He uses all things to our good, so I need not look back

  • What’s one thing that really scares you?

  • What one dream have you not completed yet, and do you think you will be able to complete it?

Having at least one book published, and yes I believe if it is His will it will happen

  • If you could be someone else for a day, who would you be?

Nobody . . . it’s challenging enough to simply live authentically as the woman God made me to be.

Blog of the Year 2012

December 27, 2012

My most grateful thanks to Wendell A Brown http://foreverpoetic.me/ for awarding me this Blog of the Year 2012 honor and blessing!  Coming from such an amazing poet and lover of Jesus makes this extra special to me.  If you have not had an opportunity to read his verse, I strongly encourage you to do so.  My apologies to him for a delay in making this post, but it’s been a bit busy in my world and quite honestly, I am still not completely finished coming up with my list of nominees, so this post will be edited to reflect more links for you to visit and be blessed by.  The nominees I post are not in any particular order of preference.

Here are some of my nominees:

There will be more!  Again, my heartfelt thanks to my brother in Christ Weldell A Brown for this honor!

Blog of the Year Award 1 star thumbnail

Do you know a blog that deserves an award?

Do you have special blogs that you love to read?

Which blogs do you bookmark and follow?

Would you like to give them an award this year?

Then the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award is for you!

The ‘rules’ for this award are simple:

1 Select the blog(s) you think deserve the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award

2 Write a blog post and tell us about the blog(s) you have chosen – there’s no minimum or maximum number of blogs required – and ‘present’ them with their award.

3 Please include a link back to this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Awardhttp://thethoughtpalette.co.uk/our-awards/blog-of-the-year-2012-award/and include these ‘rules’ in your post (please don’t alter the rules or the badges!)

4 Let the blog(s) you have chosen know that you have given them this award and share the ‘rules’ with them

5 You can now also join our Facebook group – click ‘like’ on this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award Facebook group and then you can share your blog with an even wider audience

6 As a winner of the award – please add a link back to the blog that presented you with the award – and then proudly display the award on your blog and sidebar … and start collecting stars…

Yes – that’s right – there are stars to collect!

Unlike other awards which you can only add to your blog once – this award is different!

When you begin you will receive the ‘1 star’ award – and every time you are given the award by another blog – you can add another star!

There are a total of 6 stars to collect.

Which means that you can check out your favourite blogs – and even if they have already been given the award by someone else – you can still bestow it on them again and help them to reach the maximum 6 stars!

Blog of the Year 2012’ Award Badges

Here are the six badges for you to collect – you can either ‘swop’ your badge for the next one each time you are given the award – or even proudly display all six badges if you are lucky enough to be presented with the award six times!

My “REALITY Award”

October 24, 2012

Wow, a “Reality Award” for me?

What an honor.  I previously announced this but didn’t have an opportunity to complete the “acceptance” in the way I wanted to, so here goes.  First I’d like to once again thank “My Blog” and our dear friend “loopy” for this delightful gift.

As her own post about this indicated, there are no rules, but I’m going to follow suit to some degree with her own acceptance.  I may also, given the fact of no rules, honor some with a nomination who do not usually participate in the awards due to time constraints.  If that is your situation, simply snag a copy of the award and display it on your blog.  I may also give a few now and give some later . . . since there are no rules.  So difficult to pick just a few of you since I love you all!  There were some questions she was asked to answer and I will answer the same ones myself:

  1. If you could change something what would you change?

Well, I have to admit that aside from a smaller waistline, it would probably be to have said “yes” to a personal relationship with Jesus much earlier in my life.

  1. If you could repeat an age, what age would it be?

If I can’t go back being wiser than I was the first time around, I’d rather stay put, thanks just the same.

  1. What one thing really scares you?

My problem with my eyesight/fear of going blind.

  1. What one dream have you not completed yet and do you think you will be able to complete it.

I dream of writing a book (several actually) and having it published by an established publishing house (as opposed to self-published) and I believe it will take place . . . if it is God’s will, He will lead me.

  1. If you could be someone else for the day, who would you be?

Mary, mother of Jesus while she carried our precious Lord inside her in human form.  Wow, you know?
