The sun beckons me
a warm hug waiting, calling
ah, you raise me up

So Eli told Samuel, “Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say,
‘Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening.'”
1 Samuel 3:9
My thoughts just drifted back to my childhood and to how much I loved sitting on the floor at Nana’s feet, feeling unconditional love and listening to her stories, memories, advice, and so much more. Time was meaningless as I knew such love and acceptance and encouragement and lost all sense of time.
How fitting to immediately find this before me! “Thus says the Lord who made the earth, the Lord who formed it to establish it—the Lord is his name: Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.” – Jeremiah 33:2-3
Can I have an
You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in your word.
“My hiding place” initially seemed like a joke. Sure, before I truly knew the Lord, my life was one big hiding place. Thinking about it now, my new life as a reborn creature reveals so much more yet my hiding place and shield are REAL and always there but seen by me while mystifying others. For example, Let’s look at Daniel in the lion’s den. Pretty vulnerable, no? But the story didn’t end there, did it! The lions walked on still hungry.
Then there’s David . . . young and small and left to defeat Goliath, well – expected to lose the battle against the giant warrior. But who was it that walked away unscathed? The psalmist sure got it right! My hope is in Him – my Lord and my God.
WHERE HE LEADS, I WILL FOLLOW!
“Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. “But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. “So do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows.
The Lord does not want us to run from Him in fear! To the contrary, He desires a personal relationship with us and for us to turn to Him with everything. We are to share the good, the bad, our BIG needs and little concerns, our joys and sorrows! My daddy was like that. He was my first experience of what Abba truly meant.
- God’s love, His grace, is a glorious free gift!
- REACH FOR IT WITH JOY AND THANKSGIVING!
“He is like a father to us,
tender and sympathetic to those who reverence him.”
Psalm 103:13 TLB
HOPE AND FEAR
As I lay awake on the stormy night
Wondering if sleep would come . . .
And concerned as to what
The storm might bring
A wee bit of light
Shined in the distance.
It caught my attention
Though my fear hung on
For just a moment,
For it was then that I heard the music
Of several tiny birds
And singing with thanks and hope!
Suddenly so was I!
A new day had come!
