Taking Off The Blindfold

Blindfolded we dance

Sun still shining as we sing

Darkness holds no fear

I was not what you’d call an athlete as a kid but I was active, running and biking and playing games without fear.  I wanted to swing the highest and bike the fastest.  We played games with masks fearlessly and when it was someone else’s turn I laughed as they wandered.  Now as an adult with failing eyesight, darkness comes unexpectedly and scares me.  Familiar hallways seem filled with obstacles waiting to hurt me.  Gone is the girl laughing with her blindfold on.  This fear is not necessary.

23 Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble;  – Proverbs 3:23

Light . . . Darkness . . . why fear one over the other?  If I am on the path with my Lord, day and night are both alike.  He will not let me fall.    I am His.

YOU Decide!

I Have Decided!

I just read the words “hope is a way of seeing.” In a physical sense, how I see may seem beyond my control yet it is not. My heart soul, and mind are involved. I can look out my window and see untidy landscaping I am unable to change or I can look up at branches of leaves swaying in the September mild breeze, at the blue sky, the absence of clouds, and feel blessed. My choice!

And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[  Matt 22:39

There are so many sources for defining “stylish” for us and yet I see a world defined more by insecurity.  It may seem odd to some, but the verse from Matthew immediately came to mind as I considered this.  Does the length of my hair, my nails, or my nose define either my style or my ability to receive and share love?

It is no accident that the verse places equal  importance on loving our neighbors and self love!  I do not believe we can serve the Lord and reflect Him to others if we do not love all whom God created and this includes ourselves.  Obeying the verse above supersedes any suggestion or definition of “stylish” we are urged to reflect!

Your sweet whispers heal my heart and soul

And turn the tempter’s shouts to silence.

My leaden feet now dance with pure joy,

For all my burdens are yoked

Together with you!

Keep Holding On

September 18, 2016

Hope in my pain . . .

It’s like sunshine in the rain.

I can’t see it.

I can’t feel it,

Yet I know its nearness

And that alone propels me.

I move forward

With You.

The Weather May Be Gloomy But I SEE The LIGHT

September 15, 2016

My Birthright

I live in hope of the Light,

Therefore, it is mine.

The illusion of darkness

Is no more!

I am generally quiet and sensitive, I am told.  But, you should know that I am also in love with a radical.  He came to break their rules . . . to change the world, this boy of an unmarried peasant girl, and He did! He also came to take my punishment, to set me free, to freely die so that I could live eternally with Him!
