A bone to the dog is not charity. Charity is the bone shared with the dog, when you are just as hungry as the dog.– -Jack London- –

Our priest told a great sermon today. God wants to give us the best. We need empty hands and we don’t always leap eagerly to relinquishing our hold on our stuff in order for Him to be able to give us what more and better He has. “It’s simple.” God will help us . . . we can turn to Him with our fears . . . change . . . it is scary sometimes, but oh, when we let Him work through us and fill us with His grace . . . we can. Favorite quote from the sermon? “Even an acorn can find a way to roll down the street.” As I read the following quote, the changes God can help us with . . . the “yes, but what can I do” and the “my small effort . . . will it really matter?” Those thoughts all came together with a resounding Yes I can make a difference!
I have this theory that if one person can go out of their way to show compassion, then it will start a chain reaction of the same. People will never know how far a little kindness can go. – Rachel Joy Scott –
Let’s do this, shall we? Not just for ourselves. . . let’s do it for the children!

I want to be just like him:
I am a kind of paranoiac in reverse. I suspect people of plotting to make me happy.
I was at a meeting at church the other night and we were discussing the best way to approach life, friendship, our place and purpose . . . examples were given from monastic life. Think about it. The monks spend all day and every day doing their thing in the same place and with the same folks. Who best to seek such wisdom from? If they don’t know how to get along, they are in TROUBLE. The first and most important point made was to give folks the benefit of the doubt . . . we could go far in this world if we did that. Sounds like the compassion of Christ to me.

How do you define compassionate living? It just may be broader than you have considered . . .
Our sense of community and compassionate intelligence must be extended to all life forms, plants, animals, rocks, rivers, and human beings. This is the story of our past and it will be the story of our future.

It is quite simple:
Culture of the mind must be subservient to the heart. – Gandhi
