THE COOKIE GOSPEL!

March 25, 2017

Okay, it is difficult to find a Bible translation with the above book in it, but stay with me!

whit cookies

One of my favorite things to do is bake for folks.  My late Mother did also and so it stirs up happy memories, so when I began to have some limiting physical challenges as she had, I could not do exactly what I used to do.  This was the stage at which Mom gave up.  So, my reaction?

  • What?  I cannot bake?
  • It was fun!
  • People were happy!
  • Dang, what good am I?

For a while I wished I could do what I “lost”and pouted!  That blessed nobody!  Eventually, the Lord spoke louder and got my attention.   He gave me a heart and mind and I gave up too soon!  If I was meant to accomplish something, He would provide a way!  So, when He said “make a different cookie!”  I realized if I had quit sulking, I might have gotten a lot  more baking done a lot sooner.

This isn’t really about cookies, though the story is true.

When the road turns in a new direction, the trip isn’t over yet!  His plan is ALWAYS best.  There have been loads of surprise road blocks in my life, but when I FOLLOWED HIM, what He planned was SOOO MUCH BETTER than mine!  Can I get an AMEN?

BAKE COOKIES!

White chocolate chip cookies

1 cake mix (I used butter pecan)

2 eggs

1/3 cup oil

1 tsp vanilla

choc chips of your choice (I did not measure)

Mix well and bake at 375 for about 9 minutes on a parchment lined baking sheet, pay attention as time may vary.  Should be light brown on bottom and will be very soft until cooled!  I made mine just under golf ball sized. Smaller will need less time and ovens vary!

Laugh!  I always have a few cake mixes, when they are on sale, and dislike cake generally.  VERY handy for baking all sorts of non-cake treats in a hurry!  As for cake, I prefer my ice cream solo!

Mom – Gone But Not Forgotten

December 5, 2016

Mom made these every year and I have the wrinkled scrap she wrote the recipe on.  It has been a trying year but blessings come to mind as well.  I will share the cookies I make thinking of blessings past and knowing more will come!  The joy and the cookies will be shared!  Cider anyone?

Quick and Easy!

March 3, 2016

Here is a quick and  so simple way to bless your family and friends!

  • after school treat
  • with coffee after a meal
  • bless the new neighbor
  • bring to the office
  • church coffee fellowship
  • just because

Nutella Cookies – 3 Ingredients!

Digital Camera
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup Nutella
1 Egg

Preheat oven to 350. Makes 24 cookies on ungreased baking sheet.

Combine 3 ingredients to form dough. It will be a dry and dense dough. I recommend using your hand (keep one clean, silly. You know the phone will ring.) This will go quicker with mixing it by hand IMPO.

Place one inch balls on cookie sheet and press/flatten a bit with a glass.

Bake for about 8 minutes.

There are different variations out in cyber space. Some call for adding 1/2 cup of sugar. I prefer them without. If you have a really really “bad” sweet tooth, go on and add the sugar. I do not believe they need it. Yummy!

Six Word Saturday

Okay, confession time.  Wrote the above yesterday.

If truth be told today would be:

Sipping coffee . . . still in nightie . . . raining . . .

Somebody Pour The Milk

December 21, 2012

Okay, we have tree cookies every Christmas.  I can’t remember one without.  This year rather than a standard butter cookie I made them from the familiar sugar cookie dough – as you would make it for cut out cookies – not the “drop” cookie version.  I can now say my home has many trees.  I also have oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, am about to make lemon cookies, and will be making pumpkin muffin/cupcakes and likely a ginger bread . . . don’t know what else.  Wish y’all were here!

Daddy – A Poem, A Memory, A Broken Heart

December 21, 2012

A broken cookie or two. . .

A glass of milk . . .

Remembrance of the light in your eyes

Which was brighter than any on my tree . . .

Brighter than any star in the sky . . .

Tears of selfish sadness in my eyes

Because I miss you

As I realize you’re not here to smile

And take away my brokenness . . .

A cookie,

A doll,

My heart,

With your smile and a hug.

Give Jesus a hug for me

And tell Him happy birthday.
