Quote of the Day – Enabled For More!

December 11, 2012

Wow, is this quote timely in my life!  How fortunate for me that I know I don’t have t self-enable!  I hope it touches you as well!

As for the future, your task is not to foresee it, but to enable it.  – Antoine de Saint-Exupery –

Thoreau On Character

November 8, 2012

You cannot dream yourself into a character: you must hammer and forge yourself into one.  – Henry David Thoreau –

I believe that by surrendering to Christ, we truly are forged into are authentic selves . . . the dream may well be part of the seed of passion He plants, but we must permit the work to be done or it’ll never be more than a dream and perhaps, if we fail to surrender, the passion will simply become a frustration instead.

Oh, How He Loves Me!

May 6, 2011

Okay, if you thought this was an article about a  romanic and passionate experience I had to share, you’ve stumbled upon the wrong blog . . .

Passionate it is, though!  I’m hearing a line from a favorite praise song in my heart and head just now.  I must say it’s delightful when my heart and head are on the same “team.”  It’s not always the way.  I was not exactly “high on life” earlier today and remarkably – rather than stew for a while and eventually think of praying, I prayed right away and then got involved in doing some things that needed doing.  Wish I could say that this Christian is just so focused on the Lord that this is simply a common occurance, but being human brings with it a host of imperfections and yup, I’ve got ’em.  Like a broken watch, though, I must say I get it right twice a day anyway . . . at least that .  . . I hope . . .

When we surrender ourselves to the Lord and say “use me . . . fill me” we’d better be ready to receive our “honey do” list fast.  He hears a willing heart and He says “sign  up!  Here’s your first job!  Go to it!”   It’s funny, but shortly after I prayed the words  I prayed, I found myself blessed not once but three times!  First with a lovely conversation with a stranger, then with finding myself say to someone “you need to let it go.  It’s not yours to worry about.  Give it to the Lord.  He’ll handle it and enable you.”  Then I heard myself telling someone else “It just takes a willing heart.  God will provide the ability.”

These things took place in under an hour from the time I felt “off” and prayed about it and are all direct answers to that prayer.  Just further proof, if any is needed, that He loves us totally and completely and He so desires us to “get close and personal” with Him.  I’ve said this many times since my friend Rick “used it on me” and I’ll say it again.  Our Lord does not call the enabled – He enables the called!  Thanks be to God!

But Lord I Can’t!!!!

May 6, 2011

Our Lord does NOT call the enabled, He enables the called.  It’s so true and yet so hard to swallow.  Hard because surrendering to Him and trusting is something we must remind ourselves to do so constantly, or at least I do but I don’t believe I am alone in this.  In a post I made here a long time ago (here’s the link:  https://inlovewiththelord.wordpress.com/2011/03/07/let-your-light-shine/) I touched on this but I feel led to revisit it because it’s so important for us to lead others to Christ and even when we surrender and say “lead me Lord, I’m ready” we find that while He does have work for us to do, it sometimes makes us feel inadequate.  Perhaps I’m preaching to myself here, but as I said He wanted me to write this and I’m trusting and following through.

Just last evening, I was at a prayer service at church and during quiet time was full of self doubt concerning the direction I feel He’s leading me toward and found a small voice inside me saying “you’re wrong.  You’re not listening correctly.  You’re not the one He’d choose for that.”  Suddenly, all the things He’d been putting in front of me and in my heart suddenly seemed in question.  Then someone else at the prayer service began to pray and his words betrayed the same small voice telling him the same lies.  As we broke up for the night, yet another friend at the service spoke of her own path and the fact that she’d also been in a touch spot in her life and the need for provision led her in a direction that seemed crazy.  She said “I never did that before.  I’ve never studied it.  How can it be for me?”  But He enabled these people.  He placed people and other resources in their life which gave them more that what they needed.  I’m thinking He will enable me as well.  He needs us.  There are so many in this world whom He loves so much but they don’t know Him and are hurting.  We are His body in this world.  When He asks you to follow, say yes.  He will be there and will give you more than you need.  If you’re asked to step into the sea with Him, don’t worry that. Like me, you know you can’t swim.  He’ll simply enable you to walk on water.  He will en ABLE us!
