Plant a mustard seed.

Simple, often overlooked

Yet richly provides.

Standing by the door

I thought of stern faces from yesteryear

and almost walked away.

a pleasant sound was heard!

Opening the new door,

rows and rows of faithful,

welcoming faces met my gaze!

A sudden glowing hush,

a procession lining up,

the organ sounded!

I knew I was home!

Share His Goodness!

November 19, 2014

“Give thanks to the LORD,

call on his name;

make known among the nations what he has done.”

1 Chronicles 16:8

We know of His powerful goodness and love.  Isn’t it selfish to keep this to ourselves?  I believe it is, so, let’s spread the word of all that Jesus has done for us!  The world is so eager to spread the bad news, it is time to return the focus to Christ and the Good News!  Join me, won’t you?  Just this morning I experienced one of those mini miracles we are given every day and don’t always notice.  I awakened stressed and fearful of not making it through my challenges, but this time I stopped and prayed for courage and strength and immediately became aware of His peace!

What has the Lord done for you today?

The Calling

I heard your voice

calling my name.

I answered “Yes!”

A Word For the Weekend

February 8, 2014
heart hands
The Bible tells us to love not to judge. How sad is it that all too often, and in my view more constant than ever these days Christians DO judge dreadfully yet rewrap it and label it as something it is not . . . and deliver it as “God’s will.”

Almost, Mr Longfellow!

Give what you have. To someone, it may be

better than you dare to think.

– Henry Wadsworth Longfellow –

My life seems to be the sort that causes people to assume I need free advice and I’m often reminded that sometimes free advice is worth what you pay for it.  Not always, I assure you, but often . . . so there’s the Longfellow quote.   He urges us to look at our blessings for the very blessings that they are and this quote reminds me of Mom speaking of “starving children” elsewhere when I reacted with disdain at having been served canned peas.  Didn’t like them and still I do not like canned peas.  But this isn’t about canned peas.  This is also not about Longfellow, whom I admire, nor is it about unappreciated blessings in my life.  It’s about attitude.

You see, I can indeed see many blessings in my life.  The Lord has touched my heart in amazing ways.  I feel so thankful for this.  There is a gaping hole still not patched up which makes me sometimes wonder and even tremble.  Still, His hand is so much upon me in so many ways I know He’s with me.  He adds sparkle to my world just to make me smile and so I know He’s not going to forsake me when it comes to the “big” thing that’s still an unmet need.  Like all the self-proclaimed experts who throw cold water on my faith and point out obvious (to them) flaws in it, I also know there’s a question of “but how are you going to manage” and yet the answer in my heart, my soul and yes even my mind is always “He is in control.”

As to the quote above, I am in favor of sharing blessings, and not because I do not appreciate them and thus wish to hand them off, but because I know how valuable they are and wish to spread them around.  If you are my friend and you really know and care about me, pray for me.  Pray with me.  Don’t try to rob me of my faith.  I will share it, but I will not abandon it.   It’s far too important to me.  It’s something I’m willing to die for.

The Pathway . . . What Are You WAITING For?

October 11, 2013

i often hear folks complaining about “what’s wrong with the world today” and saying “things must change.” Are you one of them?PATH 2 How are you working toward making things new? Christians! Sitting in the corner quietly is no more effective than the whining is. PATH AND PERSON Jesus did neither of these things. Are you being Jesus to the folks in your piece of the world? If we are not, then WE are why things are the way they are!PATH AND TREES Folks are placed in our path for a reason! Seek the answer! Be Christ to them!PATH IN THE WOODS

I love Jesus – Please Pass the Egg Rolls

April 18, 2012

REASONS TO LOVE WHERE I’M LIVING . . .  there are so many.  It is beautiful.  It has a mild climate.  Jesus lives here.  Okay, He lives everywhere, but this is the first place I have lived where folks are openly expressing this.

Take today at lunch.  Mom treated me to a China buffet place and so we did our thing and it was about two-thirds of the way through the meal before I noticed the table next to us was talking about Jesus the whole time.  Mom pointed out that the table behind her was also.

Why did I not notice this right away?  I was aware but loving Him and not being shy about showing it is so much a part of life that what i heard didn’t stand out to me.  It didn’t seem unnatural, odd, bold, or something to be ashamed of.  I LOVE JESUS!  Please pass the egg rolls . . .
