MY HOME IS IN YOU

March 7, 2019

My home is the sun shining down on me

And filling my soul

With light.

My home is a song,

An echo from heaven

Which gives my spirit wings.

My home has neither roof nor walls.

It is your hand holding me close.

I sing.

I smile.

I soar.

AT HOME IN YOUR ARMS

Come!

I tremble.

You hold me close.

I sigh.

I rest.

MY WORLD

May 3, 2017

Into His Hands

Bread in the oven,

dog’s asleep nearby.

The parrot’s singing in the livingroom

in a cage by a sunny window.

The house is otherwise quiet,

the family’s safe,

the weather mild,

all is at peace.

Tomorrow’s worries have no place here.

MY HOMECOMING

Oh, the search, so far and wide
For changing leaves or changing tide.

A mansion on a hill so high,
Or sleeping bag beneath the sky?

The road, so long with many lanes . . .
At times by foot but oft by planes.

Will my journey ever end?
Or, will another cloud descend?

Then, looking in your eyes I knew,
And every doubt suddenly flew!

For home is not a place apart,
But somewhere deep within the heart.

Abide With Me

July 18, 2014

True hope can only come from the living Word of God. I have been in need of encouragement and hope lately and received it thru several channels including the sermon Sunday, the prayers at yesterday’s healing service, and the following quote. Guard your heart, friends, and be careful where you put your trust:

“For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority.” – Colossians 2:9-10 NIV

Home – A Poem

September 23, 2012

I turned off the highway

Onto a quiet country road

Thinking I knew where it went.

“He leads me . . .”

Surely this is the way home?

Fear set in.

I saw nothing familiar.

I saw no homes,

No shops.

I saw nothing.

“He leads me . . . “

Panic began to set in.

My phone wasn’t working.

Do I have enough gas?

I’m hungry and tired.

I want to go home.

Where am I?

“He leads me . . . “

My head hurt.

My hands started to shake.

I saw nothing . . .

“He leads me . . . “

I pulled over to the side of the road.

Glanced around,

Locked the doors,

Breathed deeply

And closed my eyes.

“He leads me . . . “

I took another slow, deep breath . . .

Exhaling

I realized I heard something.

I heard the movement of water

And opened my eyes to see a pond.

It was just yards from me

And a breeze caused the water

To make a musical sound.

I realized a chorus was singing

To the music

And looked to find birds in a nearby tree.

Looking to the other side

I saw fields of sunflowers

Smiling heavenward

On the sunny afternoon.

How could I have missed these

Driving along?

Nothing?

There was beauty everywhere.

Glancing,

I saw a nearly full tank

And realized I was in no hurry.

“He leads me . . . “

The gentle sounds and breeze

Comforted me

And I knew I wasn’t alone.

I was traveling a new path.

Home is where He is.

Together we slowly drove ahead.

I smiled with a thankful heart.

And God Loves Ducks

August 8, 2012

Okay, I know I need to explain that one.  My Godchild who’s not a child anymore learned words differently than any other child I know.  I think, in an entirely unbiased opinion, that she was reading novels in the delivery room and speaking in sentences on the way home from the hospital . . . but anyway, among her first “real” words spoken (as opposed to “did she just say that?” words) was duck and quack.  She is my much-loved duckling even if she is not from my own nest.

I didn’t hatch any of my own, but the Lord blessed me by putting her in my heart in the place my own ducklings would otherwise be.  That being said, I’m thinking of God’s creatures great and small and what blessings they are.

I wonder if the cows, horses, bunnies, and birds feel a combination of pride, joy, and a little bit of sadness as their “ducklings,” calves, and the like grow up and fly to a distant branch  of a distant tree to establish their own personal nest?  Like me, do they wonder if they’ll be visited? Remembered?  I’m smiling though for my duckling has always made me so proud of her!

I pray that Jesus will watch over all the little ducklings in our lives, and especially those flying off to a distant nest.  I also ask that He will give an extra hug to those of us who watched them grow and love them still and will love them always.
