Remembering Bruce

March 15, 2012

I had a friend who who was wheel chair bound and couldn’t drive even a customized van, but never missed church. He scooted down Hwy 642 (Dorchester Rd) in his chair to church on Sundays and midweek things as well. Not too long after we became friends he was diagnosed with cancer. It spread fast. He still came to church via his chair and self-propelled even days before entering Hospice. The night before he made that journey, and just a couple days before he died, he spent a couple hours instant messaging me via FB. He couldn’t sleep nor could I. He spoke hardly a word about being sick. He was smiling and loving Jesus and laughing and encouraging me and everyone else until the end. I miss him. Some people think they have it rough. He never seemed to think so.
