My Empty Hands

March 11, 2019

hand

Lord,

Everything I have seems to be slipping

Through my fingers.

Tangible is so temporary

And things I’ve always valued

Are quickly gone

From my grasp.

I moan,

I weep,

I sing.

For while my hands are empty,

My heart is full.

Your love . . .

My trust in you . . .

Intangible  . . .  real . . . true.

I have nothing

Yet I possess everything.

FACELESS

March 24, 2018

We walk the streets .. .

the buzz of digital noise . . .

and echo of animated humans . . .

yet we do not hear nor see them. . .

they are faceless . . .

We wonder what the world is coming to . . .

we ask where is the Lord in this . . .

He looks lovingly at His lost creation . . .

and weeps .. .

Hope Rises

February 24, 2018

My bread dough rises like the sun

In a cold unleavened sky.

My heart is warmed,

My hands reaching out

To prepare the loaf it will become,

To bake,

To break,

To share.

SOMETIMES “NOTHING” IS EVERYTHING

April 12, 2017

I wanted to  give the right gift,

the perfect one.

I had little money

and few skills.

IT NEEDED TO BE PERFECT!

I grew more and more disappointed.

Eventually,

with tears in my eyes

and empty hands,

I threw myself to the ground

and cried out

“I love you!”

He was pleased.

ARE YOU A THIEF?

April 3, 2017

Treasure Hunt

We search high and low,

seeing everything

and finding nothing.

Frowning becomes moaning

as we steal the joy from other hearts

and toss it away in disgust.

The challenge will never be met

lest we realize the Truth.

What we seek is already within us!
