Re-Gifting Blesses the Lord

April 8, 2012

2 Corinthians 9:10-11

10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

We have likely all re-gifted at some point in our lives.  I suspect most of us hope not to get caught and feel a little bit guilty for having done so.  The hat from Uncle Joe or the vase from Aunt Sue . . . but read what Paul has written above on the topic of re-gifting and you see it in an entirely new light.

We are not showing a lack of appreciation in passing on some of what we’ve been given but are praising the Lord twice . . . or possibly infinite numbers of times.   How often have we felt  a nudge to “help” someone and failed to do so thinking “my little bit won’t help much” and yet look at how a few seeds become so much more.

It’s not about the seeds, it’s about the heart and soul.  When we honor the Lord, He continues to pour blessings and grace upon us and enables us to do more and more for His glory.

Not only does He enable us to do bigger and bigger works for Him, but the act of giving brings Him glory from the lips, heart, and soul of those we’ve given to.  We also inspire them to seek His will and do likewise and thus our few seeds, our bit of grain, our shared loaf of bread leads to more and more hearts turned toward Him.

Re-gifting . . . give it another look!
