FOOLISH HUMANS!

If I was passed a glass of poison to drink, I would destroy it – not drink it.  God would urge me to.  He loves me.

Oh, the hug He gives!

Why then, when anxiety plagues me in so many painful ways, do I hold onto it and make myself sick?  Lose my joy?  Perhaps cause others to follow this wrong path with me?

Turn to Him, ask for help, turn it over!

The story with no ending

and chapters I hunger to forget.

My soul stirs in wonder . . .

Could this be the day?

Trust comes hard for me.

But I need it for it holds the map!

Finally I study it and gasp!

In big letters, You wrote to me!

THINK ABOUT IT

Read …Recite …Relationship

Pray,

It should mean something.

It does, doesn’t it?

When we’re finished, we sing and leave!

But . . .

I don’t need to read the book,

I can easily recite.

That counts, right?

Even if I forget the words?

Does it mean something?

How will He know what I said

if I don’t . . .

I’d rather have

A relationship with Him

using my own words

from my heart.

It matters to me

and to Him.

LITTLE WORRIES DON’T HAVE TO GROW LARGER!

MOST OF US go to the Lord in prayer only for big things and wonder why we become stressed.  He wants to be in relationship with us, His children!  DO NOT SUFFER IN SILENCE!  REACH OUT TO HIM!

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. -Isaiah 41:10

 

SHEEP VERSUS HUMANS

When I was a child my Sunday School teacher told us a story of the lost sheep.   I was NOT impressed.  Most of my young classmates thought “oh, they are so cute.”  Not me!

You see, after hearing about still water and green pastures and a shepard, I thought the sheep had a good life and decided the one the shepard had to hunt for to protect him from getting hurt . . . well I thought he was stupid.  Follow the leader, eat, play, sleep, trim the grass . . . ie snack time, repeat next day.so why not do as your told, wandering sheep?

HOW’S YOUR LIFE GOING?

The Bible tells us that we have a Good Shepard and we are His sheep.  All we must do is listen and follow.  How’s that working for you?  As for me, this sheep often neglects to pay attention, thinking MY idea sounded good, “maybe God will support MY idea instead.”  WRONG!  The loving Good Shepard came after me, protected me, loved me, and taught me which way to go WITH HIM.

Ultimately, supporting myself is NEVER going to lead me to the life and purpose God has for me.  I am trying to listen better.

 

 

 

 

 

 

HURRICANE AND TORNADO

As we face the peak of hurricane season and, as well, with many of us – MYSELF INCLUDED-  in the path of Florence right now – A LEVEL 4 AND SOON TO BE 5 -, let’s pray  for protection for all!

Oh, How He Loves Me!

Okay, if you thought this was an article about a  romanic and passionate experience I had to share, you’ve stumbled upon the wrong blog . . .

Passionate it is, though!  I’m hearing a line from a favorite praise song in my heart and head just now.  I must say it’s delightful when my heart and head are on the same “team.”  It’s not always the way.  I was not exactly “high on life” earlier today and remarkably – rather than stew for a while and eventually think of praying, I prayed right away and then got involved in doing some things that needed doing.  Wish I could say that this Christian is just so focused on the Lord that this is simply a common occurance, but being human brings with it a host of imperfections and yup, I’ve got ’em.  Like a broken watch, though, I must say I get it right twice a day anyway . . . at least that .  . . I hope . . .

When we surrender ourselves to the Lord and say “use me . . . fill me” we’d better be ready to receive our “honey do” list fast.  He hears a willing heart and He says “sign  up!  Here’s your first job!  Go to it!”   It’s funny, but shortly after I prayed the words  I prayed, I found myself blessed not once but three times!  First with a lovely conversation with a stranger, then with finding myself say to someone “you need to let it go.  It’s not yours to worry about.  Give it to the Lord.  He’ll handle it and enable you.”  Then I heard myself telling someone else “It just takes a willing heart.  God will provide the ability.”

These things took place in under an hour from the time I felt “off” and prayed about it and are all direct answers to that prayer.  Just further proof, if any is needed, that He loves us totally and completely and He so desires us to “get close and personal” with Him. .  Our Lord does not call the enabled – He enables the called!  Thanks be to God!

Psalm 121:7-8

He keeps you from all evil and preserves your life. He keeps his eye upon you as you come and go and always guards you.
