Before we judge and

close our doors and hearts to one another,

we need to remember that

our church buildings would be empty of any but

our Triune God

were it not for

we sinners present!

HE’LL NOT TURN HIS BACK ON ME!

July 20, 2017

The troubles in life are not the struggles themselves. They are the false notion of separation we feel. The Lord recently reminded me that nothing can separate me from His love. NOTHING. Romans 8:38 – Martha L Shaw

DEFINE NOTHING!

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, Romans 8:38

Quote For Sunday – I FEEL JUST LIKE THIS!

May 26, 2013

I cannot find words (really) to describe how full of the Holy Spirit I feel today on this Trinity Sunday but the day is just partway over and grace is spilling out cuz I’m being flooded!  The following quote says what my brain cannot put to words . . .

If the stars should appear but one night every thousand years how man would marvel and stare.- Ralph Waldo Emerson –

Empty Hands . . . Fill Me, Lord!

June 3, 2012

“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” Proverbs 15:1

The Lord has been revealing something to me lately.  I realized today that He’s been on me about it so many times recently and yes you read that correctly, I realized today . . .

As the quote from Proverbs said, “a gentle answer.”  He often speaks softly.  We need to listen intently.  I don’t always.  Maybe you can relate.  We pray expectantly.  We trust, we have our hope in Him, YET we don’t always hear the answer when our schedule says we “should.”  Sure, His time is perfect but that’s not the point of this writing.  You see, He has been urging me in many ways and on many occasions to “let go.”  I realize just now that He has used people close to me to try to reveal this and has used some of you to do so, and has spoken directly to my heart.  Today, for example  knew His voice to say:

“You can only receive with empty hands and an open heart.”

I know His plan is perfect.  I know His love for me is perfect.  I love Him and hunger to serve Him.  So, why am I still grasping my own “stuff” and not reaching toward Him with empty hands?  Join me in a short and simple prayer, won’t you?

Lord, here you are.  Here I am.  Here we are together.  Take all of me.  Fill me.  Use me.  I love you.  Amen.

Just Believe and Be Thankful

April 21, 2012

“And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.

I and my Father are one.” John 10:28-30 KJV

Jesus and Tolstoy on Contentment

The great writer Leo Tolstoy once wrote that “ If you look for perfection, you’ll never be content.”   As I considered that quote, two things came to me.  First of all the only source of perfection I know of, as a Christian, is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit – the Trinity.  Jesus, in becoming God Incarnate, and thus totally human on earth, gave His life that we might be forgiven and have eternal life.  He didn’t die on the cross that we might settle for good enough, nor did He die so that we could be merely  content.  He did so in order that we might HAVE IT ALL!  That being said, you are correct Mr. Tolstoy.  However, if we look to the one who is perfect, we don’t have to settle for mere contentment!
