Jeremiah 6:16

16 This is what the Lord says:

“Stand at the crossroads and look;
    ask for the ancient paths,
ask where the good way is, and walk in it,
    and you will find rest for your souls.
    But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’

At a meeting earlier I spoke of being in a situation not to my liking nor my choosing and said that I’m holding fast to it because I believe the Lord desires it and that when it becomes clear it is time to move on, I will, but meanwhile I am staying put knowing he’s with me.

I left the meeting and immediately encountered a challenge which made me want to at least grumble and honestly to walk away quickly.  I then checked email and again came upon something that suggested walking away.  BUT then I remembered the words preached today in the wonderful sermon Fr Chris gave.  He referenced Jeremiah 6 as well.  The last line in the verse tells us “ But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’ and that was a decision made then but not by me now.  I am going against the tempter’s urging and making the unpopular choice of staying with the Lord.  He is with us when we make the difficult choices.  There may be strife yet to be faced, but in Him and with Him strife need not strike us down.  I urge you to listen to Him and hold on tightly to His hand.  “You will find rest for you souls. “

    • Yes! His ways do not always “make sense” to us, at least initially, and it can be so easy to justify a denial . . . fooling ourselves into believing “not what He said” when it is simply not what we expected or not, perhaps, what we want to hear, but His way is best and our faith and trust in Him lead us to that promised land every time, don’t they? Thanks.
